Roman Combat at the Sword

The Gladius

Those of you who are acquainted with  my work will quickly recognize that my connection to Roman Close Combat is immense. It was the genesis of Comhrac Bas and the more over arching Proelium Ars (more information can be found at FLUENT FIGHTING While many less than cogent detractors couldn’t understand the significance of my research (done over 20 years ago) and attempted sophomoric attacks based only on the name, they could not refute the power of my technologies.

My research conducted on Occidental Combat Arts–most notably Gladiators and Vikings–was a slap of unwanted reality to the Oriental dogmatic hordes that thought combat involved bowing and taking their shoes off. I proved that Occidental Combat paradigms could solve modern violence and provide viable self defense technologies. In comparison,  using a Traditional Martial Art (rooted in following archaic hierarchical impediments to learning and useless techniques) was not going to solve brutal violence nor was a sport fighting system going to solve the problems encountered in situations closer to war than a sporting event. And what more and more people, Worldwide, found themselves in was, and still is, literally war. Make no mistake about this– this is a serious endeavor involving life or death. And I have no time for those who won’t come to terms with this.

While I could go on to talk about the immense failings in what the “Martial Arts’ World” was proposing as solutions and the tragically flawed mindset that was responsible for it, I will not do that at this time. I bring up the nexus to my research into Occidental Combat as a means to cause a paradigm shift in those of you ready for it. My work was, and remains, game changing. The response from the detractors only served to validate Castaneda’s words: ‘ You didn’t have this knowledge before, now you do. I have revealed it to you, but it doesn’t make a bit of difference, because you don’t have enough personal power to utilize my revelation. Yet if you did have enough power, my words alone would serve as the means for you to round up the totality of yourself and to get the crucial part of it out of the boundaries in which it is contained,’ (Tales of Power).  So, when I proffer another source of combat information via the use of the Gladius and propose that the defensive style of blade work which uses the thrust is a superior technique in blade strategy, I hope you will listen.

Here, then, is an interesting video that gives an overview of the Gladius and its use. The video was done by a history buff who has read extensively about Occidental Combat. If you find that you like his videos be sure to tell him I sent you. Well, let’s turn to the video and discover something further about Occidental combat.
